TODAY'S MOST TOP OF THE CHAT QUESTION FROM A FORM TWO STUDENT

QN: Why is PLUTO not a planet?
Answer:
for a body to become a planet it must meet the following criteria
1. It must orbit around a star
2. It must be massive enough si that it's own gravity causes it to assume a spherical shape
3. It must clear the background neighborhood around its orbit
Because Pluto resides in an Area of space populated by numerous other objects, it is no longer considered a planet. It has failed to meet the third characteristic that is it's neighborhood around it's orbit is not cleared and it is now termed as a dwarf planet
